Weekend 4: WPNSA - Tera South and SW RTS 2024/25

It was our fourth training weekend for the RS Tera Southern Regional Training Squad hosted by WPNSA. We were also joined by the South Western RTS for a joint weekend. With the increased number of sailors (46 boats!), our focus for the weekend was starting, specifically on the minute before the start and up to about 3 minutes after the start.

It was a great weekend training sessions as many sailors took some key points away with them all developing their starts and improving over the weekend; not only their performance on starting, but also their knowledge!

I was with the pros over the weekend and it was a great opportunity to work with these sailors as I believe they are all at the point where they are starting to see the bigger picture of their starts and using imagery (a powerful tool) to enhance their starts. As a group for the pros, we worked on the style of trigger pull to use dependant on the type of start they are implementing, finalising their skills of different upwind modes off the start line and attacking and defending linked to lane holding.
