One of the biggest things I see as a coach is that sailors who think well about sailing improve faster on the water. That’s exactly why the UK RS Tera Class Association Online Sailing Academy 2026 is such a valuable opportunity and why I’m really proud to be supporting it as UKRSTCA Lead Coach.
The Online Sailing Academy is a free, three-week programme for UKRSTCA members, designed to help RS Tera sailors build understanding and learn new habits before the season really gets going.

What you’ll get
Mid-week online sessions at 7pm, easy to fit around school and training
Coaching delivered by experienced class coaches: myself and Jack Bew
Groups split by experience level — from start racing through to front runners
Clear, practical sessions covering boat handling, race skills, and decision-making
Why I rate this so highly
I have been leading the Online Sailing Academy since it began in 2021, and the online sessions allow us to slow things down, explain concepts properly, and answer the questions sailors don’t always get to ask on the water or in the classroom.
If you’re a sailor looking to improve, or a parent wanting to support your child’s development, this is one of the best value learning opportunities in the class — especially as it’s included with UKRSTCA membership!

At Apex Sailing, we’re big believers in doing the basics well and learning with purpose. The Online Sailing Academy is a brilliant example of that — and I’d strongly encourage every RS Tera sailor to get involved.
