"Light wind weekend with an easterly breeze meaning short gusts developing with the short fetch. A Head Out Of Boat (HOOB) day!

Key Weather Details

Wind:

Sat: 2/3 knots gusting 5/6 from ESE

Sun: 3/5 knots gusting 6/10 from SE

Water State: Will be flat water with the short fetch coming off the eastern shore line. The gusts should be easier to see as there is likely to be a large difference in strenght in the lulls and the gusts.

Temperature & Precipitation:

Sat: 28 degrees with sunshine all day long. Pollen is Very High and the UV is High.

Sun: 26 degrees holding into the late afternoon when cloud cover begins to develop from 14:00.

Other Notes: With a HOOB day, keep your head out of the boat searching for the pressure and try and keep in these bands of pressure. Look for any useful gaps in the trees. With high UV, make sure you wear suncream and rash vests to protect yourselves from sunburns.

Tactical Considerations

Over the whole weekend it will be focusing on two main areas:

  • Keeping flow over the foils and sails in the lighter winds. To point a little lower to get maximum drive out of the boat.

  • HOOB! Where is the pressure? Is there a side favourable? Where is the next shift? As it is little conditions, these factors play more of a role in success

The wind direction seems more stable on the Sunday with some more pressure in the afternoon. As it is a hot long weekend with little wind, make sure you keep focus up by drinking plenty of fluids.

Goodluck everyone!
